The Corps of Discovery Welcome CenterThis is a partnership project to build and support a facility serving Nebraska and Southeast South Dakota. This center ties the traveler to natural resources, national scenic rivers, Lewis and Clark Trail, wildlife habitat, local businesses and attractions. Agricultural enterprises are faced with declining profits, rural communities dependent on those operations continue to shrink, small agri-tourism and other tourism-related businesses struggle to reach the traveling public. The RC&D took this project on to strengthen the economy of the area it serves. Since opening on May 26, 2001 over 24,000 visitors from all 50 states and 38 foreign countries have visited the Center.
